Eleven men (???) from across the South West and south Wales will be sentenced on Tuesday (December 6) for using dogs to kill wild animals.

The men were convicted of their crimes as part of a wider investigation into animal cruelty undertaken by the RSPCA.

The men, including two from the Taunton area, will be sentenced at Plymouth Magistrates Court from 10am.

The people due to be sentenced are as follows:

Kenneth Danes, 29, of Culmhead near Taunton – two offences of killing deer at night;

Brian Forrest ,40, of Kingston St Mary near Taunton – one offence of killing a deer;

Oliver Blatch, 27, of Stalbridge – two offences of killing deer;

Graham Coombes, 41, of Abbey Road, Bovey Tracey – eight offences including: willfully killing a badger, willfully injuring a badger), killing deer, causing an animal fighting to take place between a dog and a fox, and causing unnecessary suffering to a dog by failing to provide veterinary treatment for their injuries;

Philip Cross, 36, of Bryn Ivor Street, Tonypandy – one offence of killing a deer, and one offence of causing unnecessary suffering by failing to provide a dog with veterinary treatment for their fractured leg;

Gethyn Durham, 27, of Marl Court, Thornhill – one offence of killing a deer, one offence of keeping dogs in an unsuitable environment, and one offence of possession of a banned type of dog;

Dean McGrath, 29, of Greenmeadow, Cwmbran – one offence of killing a deer;

Joseph O’Connor, 23, of Rhydyfro, Pontardawe – three offences of killing deer;

Pheon Radford, 22, of Cross Street, Ystrad – one offence of killing a deer and one offence of causing unnecessary suffering to a dog;

Daniel Ravenscroft, 37, of Grange Road, Buckfast – one offence of killing deer;

Ryan Robinson, 20, of Foundry Court, Chudleigh – one offence of taking a deer without consent of the owner and one offence of killing a deer.

Each of the defendants admitted their offences, except for Cross and Ravenscroft who were both convicted at trial.
