Cumbria – Hunting trial guilty verdict

TWO Cumbrian men have been found guilty by a Sheriff of deliberately hunting foxes and badgers on farmland near Langholm.

Ryan Lowe, 30, of Baird Road, Harraby, Carlisle, and 40-year-old Brian Sanderson, of West Lane, Shap, were also found guilty of being in possession of items capable of being used for an offence contrary to the Protection of Badgers Act.

They were found not guilty of approaching a badger sett with the dogs, disturbing entrances and causing a dog to enter the sett.

It followed a three-day trial during which the men had claimed they were only out for a walk with dogs at Effgill at Westerkirk last May.

They will be sentenced next month.

  1. Nice one ! If they get sent down, here’s hoping they wind up being someone’s ‘girlfriends’. If not then I guess it’s going to have to be a new hobby for the both of them. Stamp collecting maybe ?

  2. Evil scum they should be sent to the gas chambers, and why is their a wait on sentencing? so the do gooders can have their say, these evil bastards should be sentenced straight away, they have a month of freedon which they should NOT have, wonder why they were found not guilty of approaching a badger set with dogs, seems to me if they were near a badger set their intentions were to torture and murder the badgers, honestly this scum really do need teaching a lesson and untill this stupid government bring in some proper laws to deal with murderign scung either for the murder of animals or humans this sort of thing will go on and on and on, a deterent is needed.
